Abdulqadir is proud. His hives have grown from 20 to 30 in one and a half years. "I feel like I have my own kingdom when I stand here in the middle of all these hives," he says. The hope for a better life led Abdulqadir to Germany in August 2015. However, a strong longing for his children and problems of adjustment prompted him to return voluntarily even before his asylum decision. In Baghdad, IOM supported him in his vocational training as a beekeeper and promoted his own beekeeping business. Abdulquadir now sells his honey at local markets and to wholesalers throughout Baghdad.
