He sought refuge in the Carrefour sport center located in the zone between the rural and urban areas of Port-au-Prince. Him and hundreds of others.
Christophe has the aspiration of finding work in a more secure area. Finding work to provide for his family.
With the support of the Government of Germany, and in collaboration with IOM, Christophe and others received hygiene kits with soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and detergent. The kits include also other sanitary equipment, such as masks and disinfectant to reduce the health risk related to COVID-19.
The help offered is not limited to physical care. IOM psychosocial support services are offered to everyone who needs it. Christophe benefited from psychosocial support to become financially independent. For himself and as a provider for his family.
IOM receives funding from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) for “Strengthening IOM's COVID-19 Life-Saving Response in Humanitarian Settings” in several countries around the world as part of IOM’s Strategic Response and Recovery Plan for COVID-19 (SRRP). We would like to tell the stories of some of the people who benefited from this support.
